Meccha Chameleon Hits New Player Peak After Hitting Seven Million Sales

Meccha Chameleon is the new talking point of the day in the gaming space. The hilarious and inventive ‘prop hunt’ style game launched just under two weeks ago to a hugely popular reception, launching up the charts and securing a whopping seven million sales in just twelve days.

On Steam, the game has catapulted its way up the ranks into the top spots, securing a new peak player count just hours ago, at the time of writing. The game managed to pull in a whopping 340,534 concurrent players, drawing it level with the likes of Resident Evil Requiem, Starfield, Destiny 2, and GTA 5.

Meccha Chameleon is a Sensation

Meccha Chameleon is successful for one solid reason, and that’s the backing of streamers. It’s no secret that games these days face a make-or-break moment when they hit the market, and the investment of the content creation crew usually determines that decision. If the big streamers latch onto your game, you’re successful, at least in the short term.

That’s what happened with Meccha Chameleon, a prop hunt-style game with a twist. Instead of simply hiding as various items in the environment, players must use paint to disfigure and manipulate their character, blending them into the background or masquerading as anything they find on the map.

It’s a low-cost, low-frills game with huge potential, and even though it might seem gimmicky, it’s doing remarkably well right now.

Remarkably, the game was assembled by a solo Japanese developer, who has been dealing with the weight of a smash hit success by releasing updates and bug fixes almost daily. Hours ago, that developer revealed a new sales milestone:
