Kingmakers, which was slated to launch on October 8th, has been indefinitely delayed, according to the team.
When Kingmakers was revealed last year, it went viral for its premise: bringing guns to medieval times. The trailer, which has over 1 million views, was enough to already earn it a film adaptation. Meanwhile, indie studio Redemption Road Games and publisher tinyBuild have been working hard to have the PC game live up to the hype. Unfortunately, as’s planned release date got closer, the team has decided to delay it for a few reasons.
Kingmakers Delayed Last-Minute Due To “Ambitions”
In a statement released on Twitter/X, Redemption Road Games revealed that, five days from it’s October 8th release, that Kingmakers would be delayed indefinitely. No release date or timing was revealed, but a deep gameplay dive was promised to be coming soon. As to why it was pushed last minute, the team cited that it didn’t want to cut corners and remove features. On it, they said:
“In short, it’s an incredibly ambitious, uncompromising game and we don’t want to cut any planned features, for the sake of getting it out the door earlier. Our goal, from the start, has been to create something that’s nothing like anything else on the market, in terms of gameplay, scale, scope, and interactivity.”
Furthermore, the team mentions that the game runs on Unreal Engine 4 and aims to push the engine to its limits. With tens of thousands of soldiers in-game, giant castles, and drop-in/drop-out 4-player multiplayer, Redemption Road Games clearly wants to make it a full experience. Still, it is quite rare for a developer to delay so close to launch, let alone a week before. Nevertheless, the wait does seem like it will be worth it, especially with the gameplay deep dive coming soon.
