Treyarch has gone ahead and made some adjustments to the Black Ops 7 beta. The developer has explained big changes coming to the Call of Duty beta, and some that are in effect right now. We’ve got all the patch notes for the Black Ops 7 October 3 update and beyond.
It was a nightmare for many to even get into the beta. First, you had to set up TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot, and if this wasn’t problematic enough, Black Ops 7’s beta has been plagued by cheaters. Activision and Treyarch have a lot on their plates, but that hasn’t stopped the October 3 Update and a full list of patch notes from becoming available.
Biggest Changes in Black Ops 7 October 3 Update

TTK Changes Happening
It didn’t take long for the TTK conversation to happen, did it? People have complained, and Treyarch has listened. The patch notes don’t make it entirely clear what changes are taking place, but we do know that Treyarch is “Releasing a weapon balance pass in the coming days to adjust TTK.”
Weapon XP Rate Increased
There’s not much to say about this one. Players weren’t happy with how much Weapon XP they were getting, and this will be buffed. This should mean that if you’re on the grind for specific attachments, you should have a much easier time with the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta.
Livelier Doors Are Coming
The act of opening doors is gone in Black Ops 7. They’ve been a mainstay in most CoD entries in recent years. However, Black Ops 7 has automatic doors, and their implementation hasn’t been entirely smooth so far. Again, Treyarch’s ears are like Dumbo right now, and the developer is prepared to make changes you cry for.
This is why doors will be open more and for longer, amongst other tweaks.

“Time-to-Kill
Time-to-Kill (TTK) and overall weapon balance has been a conversation we’ve been keeping an eye on, along with evaluating in-game data from day one of the Beta. While we’re starting the Beta with a TTK in the range of Black Ops 6, we’re aware that some players feel it may be slightly faster than desired. As a result, we’ll be releasing a weapon balance pass in the coming days to adjust TTK and ensure all weapons available in the Beta are competitive within both their class and their intended role within Black Ops 7.
We’re excited to get these changes in your hands as we continue to gather feedback and data to ensure our launch lineup of 30 weapons are as balanced and as fun to use as possible.
Doors
While there are no manual doors in any Black Ops 7 Multiplayer maps, only five of our 16 6v6 maps at launch will have automatic doors. With that said, we are closely following the community discussion about doors on our Beta maps and evaluating our launch and post-launch portfolio of maps.
Based on the feedback we’ve already seen in the first 24 hours, we’ll be making the following changes to the Beta in an upcoming update:
- Forcing specific automatic doors to remain open from the start of the match.
- Increasing how long automatic doors remain open before they close.
- Increasing the distance a player needs to be from the door before it will automatically open.
- Players can still shoot automatic doors to open them.
Changes we are considering for launch and beyond:
- Evaluating a potential reduction in the number of automatic doors across our entire map portfolio. While some doors may make sense to remove, others may bring about new issues with opening undesired lines of sight. We will share more details as we have them.
- Adding the ability to disable automatic doors in Private Match for competitive testing.
Weapon XP, Overclock Earn Rates, Spawns, Bug Fixes
We’ve also seen discussion about Weapon XP earn rates and want everyone to be able to unlock and test plenty of attachments during the Beta so you can provide valuable feedback and we can gather important data, so we’re going to help you out there. We’re also doing the same for Overclock earn rates, as well as adjusting our spawn system and knocking out some early bugs.
Planned for tomorrow’s update:
- Increasing Weapon XP earn rate
- Increasing Overclock earn rate for several Loadout items and Scorestreaks
- Adjustments made to spawn logic for improved spawning across several maps and modes
- Various bug fixes including Weapons
We’ll be sharing more details on the items above when the patch goes live over the weekend. In the meantime, here’s what’s been fixed in today’s update:
