Is LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight 2 Player? Single-Player, Co-Op & Multiplayer, Explained

You might think that Batman prefers to work alone, but eventually he comes around to the idea that working in a team is often the best call. With allies like Robin, Catwoman and Nightwing to call upon, you’d expect any Batman game to feature multiplayer or co-op—especially a LEGO one.

Well, it might not be as straightforward as you’d expect. LEGO have offered strictly single-player titles in the past, and with only seven playable characters in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, you might think that the co-op could be limited.

Insider Gaming is here to put your fears to rest, as we have all the details you could need about multiplayer in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.

Does LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight Have Co-Op?

Yes, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will feature couch co-op multiplayer, with every level playable with a partner.

Couch co-op is a defining feature of LEGO games as a whole, so it’d be strange to see TT Games part with the system this time around. Admittedly, co-op was quite limited in its past entry, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, with player two often left to the wayside whilst player one takes centre stage.

That was largely due to the lacklustre levels, but these have been amped up with LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Partner that with each character having their own upgradable skill tree, and it should feel like a complete and robust co-op experience—dibs Batman!

Does LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight Have Online Multiplayer?

Unfortunately, you can’t take that co-op fun online, as LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight does not feature online multiplayer.

If you want to play with someone else by your side, they’ll have to literally be sat next to you, as couch co-op is the only way to play this one together. It might seem like a baffling choice to not include online multiplayer, especially when you consider the classic drop-in, drop-out system—surely that’d convert well to online play?

Well, it seems like LEGO isn’t keen on introducing it, as it hasn’t shown up in previous LEGO games, and it won’t be making an introduction here. If you were relying on online multiplayer being an option, you’ll have to stick to single-player gameplay; at least you’ll be able to play as all the characters!
