Hollow Knight: Silksong Rating Suggests Release Coming Soon

On the official site for Australian Classification, Hollow Knight: Silksong has earned a brand-new PG rating for “mild violence.”

The classification is dated April 2nd and does not reveal any outright details about the game. However, like any new rating, it does hint that the release date might arrive sooner than later.

It also suggests that the devs might finally announce more details, too. But Team Cherry has not officially confirmed anything, so this is only speculation.

Hollow Knight’s sequel was first announced years ago, and originally planned to release sometime in the first half of 2023. Unfortunately, Team Cherry later delayed the release, explaining that the game has “gotten quite big.”

Team Cherry has not officially confirmed a new release window for Silksong, nor offered many updates in a while.

Many Hollow Knight fans hoped to hear news about the sequel at Nintendo’s latest February direct. Unfortunately, the partner showcase did not feature any news about Silksong. Instead, it concentrated on two major Xbox games. Grounded is coming to the Nintendo Switch this week on April 16th.

The Triple-I Initiative showcase was another major opportunity for some official updates. But despite many games appearing, Silksong still wasn’t among them.

Fortunately, just a couple of weeks ago, Microsoft added an official store page for the game. This also means that a release window might be coming soon.

The original Hollow Knight launched in 2017 and became an instant success. Team Cherry has revealed quite a few details about the sequel, including various images and trailers. But development just hasn’t seemed to keep up, implying it’ll be very ambitious. Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and the Nintendo Switch.
