The development of Hideo Kojima’s next title, OD, is reportedly ongoing with Xbox, despite recent layoffs at the company.
Hideo Kojima’s OD was revealed during The Game Awards in 2023, and since then, we have yet to hear any concrete details about the game. Currently, we know that it is an upcoming horror title developed by Kojima Productions and published by Xbox Game Studios, with development reportedly unaffected.
Hideo Kojima’s OD Unaffected by Xbox Layoffs

Thanks to a report by Windows Central, we now know whether Hideo Kojima’s OD was affected by the recent Xbox cutbacks. The report addresses the recent speculation about Kojima’s OD also falling victim to the latest round of Xbox layoffs; however, according to Jez Corden’s sources, “that isn’t the case. At least for now”.
The report also talks about investigating other projects, such as Avalanche’s Contraband. The title was shaping up to be “some sort of heist ’em up game” before its trailer was suddenly removed from Xbox’s YouTube channel. With all the recent downsizing, many players may have expected the worst; however, it could also be a case of the music license expiring. Concrete details about Contraband are yet to be revealed.
For those unaware, several Xbox studios and games have been impacted by the recent layoffs. Call of Duty studios, Turn 10, High Moon, and more have been affected, and games like Everwild, Perfect Dark, and Zenimax’s MMORPG have been cancelled. Jez is all ego and refuses to take accountability often wrong too. I do think it’s safe tho. State Of Decay 3 and Contraband I do think are next because they seem to be going no where.
