HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’ Casts Yara and Lev for Season 3

HBO’s The Last of Us series has cast its Yara and Lev. Per Deadline, the sibling pair from the second Last of Us game will be played by Michelle Mao and Kyriana Kratter, respectively.

Kyriana Kratter plays Lev, a transgender teenager, and Michelle Mao plays their sister, Yara. Both were born into the Seraphite cult. Love would be banished for his gender identity, and Yara would eventually aid in his escape. Lev is also the partner of Abby Anderson, played in the series by Kaitlyn Dever.

Michelle Mao is known for her work in Bridgerton. Kyrianna Kratter, on the other hand, is known for roles in Disney’s Bunk’d and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

The Last of Us Season 3 May Be Its Final Season

Season 3 of HBO’s series is expected to premiere in 2027, and it might be the show’s final season. Season 2 wrapped up in 2025, but not before setting the stage for a story told from the perspective of the previously mentioned Abby Anderson.

One reason season 3 is expected to be the final installment of the video game adaptation is that, once this story unfolds, it will mark the end of the source material. The last game in the Last of Us series was released in 2020.

It was heavily hinted earlier this year that this show is nearing its end with the upcoming season. Learn more about that here. The showrunner of Last of Us is currently working on a Baldur’s Gate series. Learn more about that here.
