‘Halo Next’ Campaign Project Details Surface Online in New Report and Job Listing

A new report from a Halo insider discusses the developers’ mainline campaign project, Halo Next.

As players wait for Halo Campaign Evolved to release this year, we have to do with reports on what’s on the plate for the franchise. On the topic of Remakes, a report earlier this week stated that development of the Halo 2 and 3 remakes was underway. Now, a report discusses what’s next for the franchise’s upcoming installments.

Halo Next Could Focus on The Endless, New Job Listing Revealed

A new YouTube video from Rebs Gaming discusses Halo Next’s details and how his information connects to a new job listing. Rebs’ information says Joe Staten told 343 Industries he doesn’t intend to see the Flood return, at least not in the Halo Infinite Campaign sequel. Staten doesn’t have a problem with The Flood, but at the moment, he doesn’t have a return for them on the cards right now.

The report states that the Halo Next campaign project would focus on adding new elements to the universe and featuring The Endless. The video also mentions that the sequel to Halo Infinite was referred to as ‘Campaign Next’ several times during Joe Staten’s studio-wide Microsoft Teams meeting. This sequel has been in development since 2022.

The job listing in question is for a Narrative Design Director who will be tasked to “help define and deliver the narrative experience for Halo Next.” The overview section confirms it’s a campaign, stating that the Narrative Design Director must “ensure narrative and gameplay work together to deliver a cohesive and memorable campaign experience.” The responsibilities of this role require him to “ensure the campaign delivers a complete and emotionally satisfying story that is accessible to new players and meaningful to longtime fans.” They will also need to make sure  “Halo Next aligns with long-term franchise direction and canon.”

The report talks about Halo Studios bringing players the next mainline campaign installment, which is internally being called Halo Next. The question remains whether new leadership will honor Joe Staten’s wishes or pursue a different route, such as the Edge of Dawn novel. Readers should take some of this information with a grain of salt.

In other news, Halo Campaign Evolved’s early access and release dates have seemingly surfaced in a new leak. Here are more details. Additionally, an insider has claimed that Halo Campaign Evolved will feature a customized skin system and is playable from start to finish.
