According to a new claim, Amazon’s God of War could start filming as soon as March 2026.
While PlayStation’s iconic God of War series has entertained many since 2005, a Hollywood adaptation has never happened. In 2022, Prime Video announced that the series would be brought to streaming, with many of the game’s talent producing. News surrounding the adaptation has been quite silent, but it seems that’s likely to change should the rumor be correct.
Prime Video’s God of War Rumored to Start Production in March 2026, Casting Underway

In an article from NexusPointNews, which leaked Elden Ring’s film existence, the site claims that Prime Video’s God of War has a filming start date. Furthermore, it’s a lot sooner than we thought, beginning as soon as March 2026. According to the site, they say that production will take place in Vancouver. The article also claims that casting is underway for the leads. As Amazon’s version adapts the 2018 version, the leads would be an older Kratos and his son, Atreus.
While the site has been correct in the past, it’s important to take the rumor with a dash of salt. If true, filming would begin during or after Prime Video’s Tomb Raider series, which is set to start in January 2026. Even more so, it does hint that we could get confirmation on who will play Kratos and Atreus, as well as the rest of the Norse-based characters, sooner rather than later. Either way, with 2025 being the 20th anniversary of God of War, it does seem fitting that the show is gaining traction, even if a new game is supposedly in the works.
