Ozark is an upcoming 2.5D tactical action horror game where you’ve crashed down in Northern Canada and have to fight for survival. Developed by the three-person studio ALTER-BOY, Ozark allows you to play solo or co-op with a friend either locally or through Steam Remote Play Together.

Ozark Is Coming Soon
While many game devlogs generally focus on one main aspect of the game, Ozark’s latest dives fully into what the game actually is, along with its features.
As mentioned, Ozark can be played solo or in two-player co-op. Should you go the co-op route, one of the game’s biggest features is the dynamic split-screen. Rather than leaving you feeling lost or forcing players to stick together, if you and a friend get too far from each other, the game will split vertically. This lets players explore the facility how they want without being tied down. That said, you can turn on the forced single camera if you want that extra challenge.
Speaking of co-op, with Steam Remote Play Together support, only one player has to own the game to take advantage of the multiplayer experience. Ozark is also fully playable on the Steam Deck and other handheld gaming PCs.
Ozark’s gameplay is centered around side-scrolling movement. That said, it’s not just left-to-right movement. There’s a Z-axis that allows you to move front to back, offering more freedom in the 2.5D environment. For combat, the game is built around movement, target selection, various environmental hazards, and close-range enemy encounters.
One last key thing about Ozark is its length. Knowing that finding time to complete a game can be difficult for some, ALTER-BOY has built Ozark to be completed in 3-6 hours, making it easier to experience with friends.
Ozark is scheduled to release in 2026. Fans can get another exclusive look at the game on October 1 as part of Insider Gaming’s 28 Games Later: A Horror Showcase. 28 Games Later airs on Thursday, October 1, at 3pm ET/Noon PT/8pm UK.
