Brazilian organisation FURIA has announced that its women’s Counter-Strike 2 roster has swapped games entirely to Valorant.
The decision comes after the suspension of the ESL Impact circuit left the women’s CS2 scene with no major competitions.
ESL closed the circuit last November, claiming that “the current economic model is simply not sustainable.”
As a result, the FURIA Female roster of Karina ‘kaahSENSEI’ Takahashi, Izabella ‘izaa’ Galle, Gabriela ‘gabs’ Freindorfer, Bruna ‘bizinha’ Marvila, and Lucia ‘lulitenz’ Dubra are turning their attention to Valorant Game Changers.
Women’s CS Players Flock to Valorant
FURIA have competed in the Brazilian Women’s CS scene since 2020 but have now followed the trend of swapping over to Valorant.
Just earlier this month, French CS pro Mayline ‘ASTRA’ Champliaud announced that she was also changing to Valorant.
HLTV named her the Women’s Player of the Year for 2025 after helping BIG win the final iteration of ESL Impact.
FURIA’s announcement stated: “With the love for competition and an insatiable desire to win, the Panther will explore yet another scene, with the same claw as always.”
Meanwhile, legendary FURIA CS pro Gabriel ‘FalleN’ Toledo shared his mixed feelings about the news.
“It’s a sad snapshot of the failure/lack of interest from both us viewers and Valve/tournaments in making an effort to find alternatives so that the ecosystem could function,” the Brazilian lamented.
“On the other hand, it’s great that there’s another game where they can keep competing with even higher quality,” he added.
“I think it’s a great story and, to be totally honest, I’m curious to see how they’ll fare against the girls who’ve been playing for a long time.”
