Fortnite Teases Kirby Collab in Nintendo Switch 2 Blog

Having Nintendo characters in Fortnite has always been a white whale for fans, and Epic Games may have just revealed that it’s more possible than once thought.

Fortnite is a Nintendo Switch 2 launch title. The upgraded version can be played at 60 FPS and features a resolution of 2176×1224 when docked. Additionally, mouse controls are supported with the Joy-Con 2, and there are greater view distances and higher-quality textures.

Kirby Air Riders isn’t a launch title for the new system, but it is scheduled to arrive at some point in 2025. Epic Games made a direct reference to the iconic Nintendo character in the Switch 2 announcement blog.

Fortnite Wish Star Emote Explained

If players log in to Fortnite on a Nintendo Switch 2 before March 31, 2026, they get the Wishing Star emote. Epic Games also revealed that the emote might be available for purchase in the Fortnite Shop at a later date for players who missed out.

Epic Games said, “Grab a shooting star, make a wish, and throw it back! You can’t go on an air ride with it, but it’s the next best thing.”

This, of course, is a direct reference to Kirby Air Ride and opens the door for a collaboration. Up until now, Nintendo has been hesitant to allow its characters to appear on other platforms, but this would be a massive get for Fortnite.

If Epic Games does manage to get Kirby in its game, there are endless other possibilities for more characters, including the likes of Mario, Samus, Fox McCloud, Link, and countless others.
