Hello Games announced No Man’s Sky will be available day one on Nintendo Switch 2 in a free update, alongside the new Beacons update.
Beacon, the 5.7 update for No Man’s Sky, revamps the Settlement feature in the title, allowing players to become Overseer of several towns, but it’s the free Switch 2 update that catches the eye.
Available from June 5, the same day Nintendo Switch 2 arrives in the hands of players around the world, the update features multiplayer, 4K texture support, improved framerate, touch controls, and many other features.
These include cross-save and cross-play functionality, gyro support, increased geometry, and a crisp UI. Altogether, it certainly looks set to harness the full power of Switch 2.
With nine years’ worth of updates alongside the newest features, No Man’s Sky continues to offer plenty, at no additional price, showcasing Hello Games’ hard work at turning the tide after a disappointing launch.

Phoenix From the Ashes
Initial reviews were disappointing, with No Man’s Sky failing to hit the high expectations it set, but after a period shying away from the limelight, Hello Games responded valiantly with their labour of love in the years that followed.
The Worlds Part 2 update in January added new planets, stars, and stories, while last year’s Aquarius update introduced fishing and deep-sea diving.
The Switch 2 release and fresh update show that Hello Games still plans on supporting No Man’s Sky alongside development of their upcoming project, Light No Fire.
There’s still no news on when exactly Light No Fire will be released, but following an initial reveal at The Game Awards in December, all eyes will be on Summer Game Fest for another potential appearance from Sean Murray.
