Fallout TV Show is About To Head Far Beyond The Games

The Fallout television series is one of the best live-action adaptations in the business. It’s an award-winning spate of authentic episodes that perfectly portray the wasteland and the fundamental elements of what a Fallout production should look, feel, and sound like. And in the upcoming third season, it’s finally heading way beyond the games.

It was recently confirmed by Todd Howard that the third season is about to start shooting as pre-production comes to a close, bringing us one step closer to the next chapter of this stellar show. But it’s the content of that third season that has fans excited, and for good reason.

We’re about to enter uncharted territory in the Fallout wasteland.

Fallout Season Three Heads to New Territory

At the end of Fallout’s second season, we saw our heroes head their respective ways into the next season, with about a dozen storylines being set up, ripe for exploration. In one telling segment, we saw Walton Goggins’ character, Cooper ‘The Ghoul’ Howard, mosey off towards Colorado, which is a location the video games have never explored.

If that wasn’t enough of a hint as to where things are going, Todd Howard recently offered up another explanation in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

The man himself said:

We talked about this at the end of season two, hinting we’re going to new places.

So one of the things that we all love about Fallout is the geography of the world and being able to show some new things in the Fallout world that I think will surprise people, that they’ve never seen before in the games.

The Fallout television show is, canonically, the furthest point in the future that we’ve ever seen in the post-apocalyptic universe. Therefore, Bethesda Game Studios and Amazon have full creative license to shape the story and say what comes next.

Months ago, Todd Howard suggested that things that are happening, or going to happen, in the show will be in some way linked to the events of Fallout 5, which is in a very early stage of production right now. By that, I mean the game’s scope has probably expanded from being a one-pager to being a very loose framework.

But what do you think is on the way for Fallout’s television series? We’re headed to Colorado in season three, but what’s waiting there for Cooper Howard, and what will the other heroes in the show discover elsewhere? Let us know your thoughts on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
