Esports World Cup Hits New Peak League of Legends Viewership

The Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026, the third iteration of the tournament, has drawn its biggest League of Legends audience yet.

EWC 2026 is seeing strong viewership, with this year’s Free Fire tournament the esport’s most-watched event in years.

This year’s LoL event was full of upsets and surprise results, including DPlus Kia becoming the eventual EWC champions.

And it broke the record for peak viewership for an EWC LoL match at just under 1.5 million viewers.

Around 1.47m tuned in to watch Karmine Corp shockingly defeat reigning World Champions T1 to reach the final.

EWC LoL 2026 Viewership

The 1.47m audience was also the biggest online audience KCorp has attracted as an organisation.

It bested last year’s EWC, which peaked at 1.27m viewers during the final between Gen.G and Anyone’s Legend.

Meanwhile, this year’s final between KCorp and DK was only the fourth-most-watched match of this year’s tournament, namely because of T1 and Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok’s popularity.

This year’s EWC LoL tournament also had over 23m hours watched in total, a 5m increase on last year.

Of that 23m, over 15m of it was by viewers watching co-streamers, which made up more than 60% of the tournament’s viewership.

Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont’s streams alone contributed 3.5m hours watched.

However, the EWC has a long way to go before catching up to other international LoL tournaments.

G2 Esports’ MSI win over T1 was the most-watched LoL match so far this year with a peak audience of more than 2.3m.

And LoL Worlds will likely see even greater numbers, with last year’s tournament peaking at over 6.7m.
