Free Fire has just delivered one of the most amazing grand final fixtures at the Esports World Cup, racking up hundreds of thousands of concurrent viewers and emerging as one of the most popular games of the event thus far.
At one point, a staggering 802,488 viewers were locked into the grand final, proving yet again that mobile esports are immensely powerful in the competitive gaming space. It quickly and effortlessly became Free Fire’s most-watched event since the 2022 World Series.
Compared to last year’s Esports World Cup tournament, this year’s event saw a 44% increase in viewership.
Free Fire Goes Wild in Paris
The grand final of the Free Fire tournament at the Esports World Cup erupted recently, with a tangible surge taking place thanks to South and Southeast Asian audiences. In those regions, mobile esports are king, and Free Fire often sits at the top of that prestigious table.
In terms of a breakdown, Esports Charts revealed that Hindi, Vietnamese, and Indonesian broadcasts pulled in hundreds of thousands of viewers, driven further by India’s return to the Free Fire esports ecosystem.
LYON, the tournament winner, attracted a vast contingent of LATAM-based viewers, energized by the team’s incredible performance through the group stage. This year, more than double last year’s channel count broadcast the action live, which goes a long way to explaining the growth of peak viewer counts.
Free Fire once held the world record for the most-watched esports tournament ever, with millions of users once tuning in concurrently. The record was held until it was shattered by a League of Legends World Championship event.
