DrLupo Booted From $100,000 Chess Event For Cheating

DrLupo has been shamed today after being unceremoniously removed from the PogChamps 6 Chess event, which carries a $100,000 prize pool. He tried to save face by suggesting he was dropping out of the running, but Chess.com, the host for the tournament, revealed that a fair-play violation led to DrLupo’s dismissal and replacement.

They Don’t Prosper

DrLupo admitted on social media to picking up chess moves from his stream chat while competing against Wolfe ‘Wolfey’ Glick during the recent PogChamps 6 face-off.

Drastic accusations surfaced after the popular streamer made a blatant blunder then proceeded to make two-dozen flawless moves that were deemed as being outside his skillset. He immediately discredited these allegations, suggesting he just ‘had a good game’ and then ‘got rolled the rest of the day.’

Later, DrLupo admitted he’d been picking up tips on another monitor while playing against Wolfey, but he stressed that he wasn’t using a dedicated cheat tool:

Chess.com removed DrLupo from the tournament, explaining that he had received a fair-play violation and that his spot in the bracket would be replaced. They didn’t clarify what DrLupo did, they just advised that ‘receiving any help during a match is a violation of the FP policy and will result in a DQ and account closure’.

At the end of the day, DrLupo could have faked his way to a massive prize, and that’s a huge concern.

  • He actually lied multiple times.

The first lie was that he didn’t cheat.

The second lie, which he hasn’t yet come clean on, is confessing it was stream chat. His explanation assumes that his stream chat has the ability to feed GM+ level moves, and that he somehow only picked the GM moves from all chat suggestions, 25 moves in a row. Anyone with any understanding of probabilities knows this is complete BS, and an actual check of the stream chat happening during his livestream shows no one suggesting anything.

So not only is DrLupo insufferable enough to cheat in a casual $100K prize tournament, he’s such a loser that he would also lie about how he cheated, and the extent to which he cheated.

    What a waste of “influence”.
