Even Arthur Morgan Knows Red Dead Redemption 2 Needs a 60 FPS Update

It has been almost seven years since Rockstar Games released Red Dead Redemption 2, capturing the hearts and minds of millions of players worldwide. The multi-award-winning game became known as one of the company’s most stellar creations—and then they almost abandoned it in favour of GTA 6.

Fast-forward to today, and Red Dead Redemption 2 is more or less in the same state it was when it was released. Fans have cried out for a next-gen update to bring it up to spec and introduce a 60 FPS frame rate, but it’s not happening.

Even Arthur Morgan’s voice actor, Roger Clark, knows it’s needed.

Save Red Dead

A while ago, a campaign was triggered by players to ‘save Red Dead Online’, which was suffering immeasurably. Rockstar had failed to produce meaningful updates for quite some time, and the developer had forgotten the single-player portion of the game.

At the same time, GTA Online was getting updates out the wazoo, and GTA 5 had more enhanced versions than you could shake a lever-action rifle at.

In the meantime, Red Dead Redemption (2010) was re-released for modern platforms, and what happened? Rockstar Games introduced a 60 FPS update for the age-old title.

Roger Clark, the iconic actor behind Arthur Morgan, Red Dead Redemption 2’s protagonist, understands the need for a 60 FPS update. He wrote on social media:

Guys, it has come to my attention that there isn’t a 60fps patch for RDR2 yet. Some of you have been kind enough to remind me to do something about it. I am so sorry for the delay! Am working on it right now. It’ll be ready tomorrow after lunchtime.

Coincidentally, Ned Luke (Michael de Santa from GTA 5) popped up in the comments to suggest the 60 FPS update for RDR2 will drop when GTA 6 is released ‘at midnight tonight.’

Bunch of jokers, they are.

Do you think it’s nuts that Rockstar Games hasn’t done anything to enhance or upgrade Red Dead Redemption 2, which is expected to have sold more than 70 million copies? Let me know in the comments or hit up the Insider Gaming forum.
