Destiny 2 The Final Shape Delayed Amid Bungie Layoffs

Destiny 2 The Final Shape

On Monday, Bungie was the latest studio to be hit by company-wide layoffs. Now, in a new report from Bloomberg, more changes are happening at Bungie aside from layoffs. According to Jason Schreier, Destiny 2 The Final Shape DLC has been delayed.

The report states that The Final Shape is being pushed back from February 2024 to June 2024. The delay pushed the DLC outside of the current fiscal year for Sony, instead putting it in FY24-25.

It was also stated that Marathon, which is Bungie’s next game, was also delayed into 2025. However, Insider Gaming has learned that a 2025 release was the plan from the start for the game, though a specific window during the year wasn’t known.

Bungie was purchased back in 2022 by Sony for $3.6 billion. One of the employees let go during the layoffs happened to be a paralegal who helped work with both parties during the acquisition.

The full scope of the layoffs at Bungie isn’t currently known as of publishing.
