Crystal Dynamics has announced it is holding another round of layoffs, this time letting go of 20 employees.
The upcoming titles from the developer, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Tomb Raider: Catalyst, are currently in full development. However, they appear to be continually laying off employees. A little over four months ago, the company announced it would eliminate 30 positions, and now 20 more will also be dismissed.
Crystal Dynamics Holds Fourth Round of Layoffs Within a Year
A new LinkedIn post from the official Crystal Dynamics account states that the company is “reducing its workforce by 20 talented team members.” The dismissed employees were split between development personnel and some central operations roles. The studio has stated that, as it moves into new phases of development, it looks at “team structures to ensure they align with our long-term studio goals” and deems these departures “necessary”.
The Tomb Raider developer has announced several rounds of layoffs within the past year. The first one was in March 2025, where they made the “difficult decision” to let go of 17 people from the company. The next one arrived in August 2025, when an undisclosed number of employees were let go. Finally, the third one arrived in November 2025, where they parted ways with just under 30 team members across various departments.
In other news, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis’ difficulty will be adjusted for “modern player tastes”. Additionally, Catalyst developers have revealed that players don’t need to do any homework before jumping in. What are your thoughts on Crystal Dynamics announcing another round of layoffs?
