BLG Toplaner Bin Fined $22K for Failing to High-Five Fans

Bilibili Gaming toplaner Chen ‘Bin’ Ze-Bin has been handed a heavy fine by Riot Games for not interacting with LPL fans.

BLG are competing in the chaotic LPL Split 2 Playoffs in the Lower Bracket after a surprise loss to major underdogs Team WE.

After BLG defeated EDward Gaming 3-0 on Wednesday, Bin did not go over to high-five fans who had travelled to watch the series.

Fans are believed to have paid for VIP tickets, which advertised player interactions as part of the package.

As a result, Riot fined Bin ¥150,000 RMB (~22k) and also handed his team BLG an additional ¥50,000 RMB (~7.4k) fine.

Bin will also have to participate in relevant education and training following the incident.

LoL Esports Bad Player Behaviour Epidemic

The League of Legends publisher has handed out a lot of fines and punishments this year.

The official statement from Riot and the LPL on the Bin incident read:

“Bin failed to fulfil his on-stage interaction obligations as required by official match-day protocols.

“This conduct violates the professional standards expected of an LPL player, disrupts the standardized operational order of the competition, and has negatively impacted the viewing experience and enthusiasm of the audience.”

A similar incident happened earlier this year in Korea with superstar ADC Nam ‘Diable’ Dae-geun.

BNK FEARX dropped Diable from its LCK line-up for skipping a fan meet, he then proceeded to leave the team and join Nongshim RedDorce.

As for the Bin incident, Riot found BLG negligent in its pre-match player management and behavioral guidance and was therefore held partially responsible for the pro’s behaviour – hence their fine.

Riot also fined LEC organisations Movistar KOI and Karmine Corp, as well as Canadian midlaner Joseph Joon ‘Jojopyun’ Pyun this week.

Jojopyun was fined €5,000 for swearing during his on-air interview during the LEC Roadtrip in Madrid.

Meanwhile, MKOI and KCorp were fined €2k each for the heated online argument between the two teams’ owners.
