The LPL Split 2 Playoffs have not shaken out how anyone expected, as Team WE have recorded multiple shock victories to reach the Upper Bracket final.
Meanwhile, JD Gaming (JDG), Anyone’s Legends, and reigning champions Bilibili Gaming (BLG) are all in the Lower Bracket.
LPL and First Stand Champions BLG were heavy favourites for the Playoffs. They finished the regular season top after losing just two series, and all five BLG players made the LPL All-Pro team.
Meanwhile, Team WE finished bottom of the LPL’s top eight seeds in Group Ascend and barely made it into the Playoffs after beating LNG Esports 3-2 in the Play-In.
Yet, the team that won only one of their 14 regular-season series beat First Stand champions BLG 3-1 and swept Esports World Cup-qualified Anyone’s Legend 3-0.
LPL Split 2 Playoffs Bracket
Joining Team WE in the Upper Bracket final is Top Esports (TES), as one of the two are guaranteed to qualify for MSI.
And both LPL seeds will skip the Play-In thanks to BLG’s First Stand triumph.
Top Esports have improved a lot since the start of the season, with former world champions Gao ‘Tian’ Tian-Liang and Yu ‘JackeyLove’ Wen-Bo returning to the line-up.
After sweeping LNG Esports, TES defeated a strong JDG roster 3-1 to book their spot in the Upper Bracket.
Meanwhile, the Lower Bracket is a nightmare, stacked with ridiculous teams in elimination matches.
Anyone’s Legends will try to bounce back against the winners of ThunderTalk Gaming and LDG Gaming.
Meanwhile, BLG will have to defeat EDward Gaming, JD Gaming, and then potentially Anyone’s Legend and Team WE or TES to keep the dream of a Golden Road, winning every title available in a season, alive.
