Riot Games has sanctioned two of its LEC teams in Movistar KOI and Karmine Corp, as well as Canadian midlaner Joseph Joon ‘Jojopyun’ Pyun.
As added to Riot Games’ EMEA penalty tracker, all three were handed warnings and four-figure fines.
ing the LEC Roadtrip in Madrid a month ago.
The punishments handed out were:
- Movistar KOI — Warning + €5,000 fine
- Karmine Corp — Warning + €5,000 fine
- Jojopyun (Movistar KOI) — Warning + €2,000 fine
Reasons for the LEC Fines
Both organisations’ fines were due to the actions of their content creator owners, MKOI’s Ibai ‘Ibai’ Llanos Garatea and KCorp’s Kamel ‘Kameto’ Kebir.
The two were supposed to face off in a showmatch in Madrid, which was highly anticipated by both sets of fans.
However, public arguments between the two led to the match’s cancellation.
French streamer Jean ‘TraYtoN’ Medzadourian stoked the flames of the tense French and Spanish rivalry by insulting the low fan turnout during the Friday afternoon of the Madrid event.
This then led to Ibai insulting the KCorp fanbase and Kameto responding by cancelling his flight to Spain.
Meanwhile, Jojopyun was fined and handed his second warning in a year for swearing during an interview, a moment the LEC’s own Twitter account shared.
After tying up the tense series against KCOrp, Jojopyun told LEC interviewer Laure Valée, “We are gonna f*ck KC so hard the next game.”
Meanwhile, in the game before, KCorp ADC Caliste ‘Caliste’ Henry-Hennebert stood up midmatch to take off his headset and send a shh gesture to his opponents.
However, the young Frenchman avoided any punishment.
