LCK team BNK FEARX (BFX) has dropped superstar ADC Nam ‘Diable’ Dae-geun to its academy team, BNK FEARX Youth.
A statement released by the Korean League of Legends team revealed that Diable has been disciplined for missing a fan meet.
Consequently, Kim ‘Slayer’ Jin-young has been promoted to the main roster.
Diable has been one of the most impressive players in the LCK this year, and was a big reason the team surprisingly qualified for First Stand earlier this year.
Yet, the organisation has still chosen to bench the 18-year-old following “repeated instances in which internal rules and basic commitments were not properly observed.”
BFX Exlaon Diable Benching
BFX released a statement adding a lot of context around their controversial decision.
While acknowledging the team’s hopes of success, BFX claims it also places great importance on “professional responsibility, attitude, and respect toward fans and team members.”
When speaking about the missed fan meet incident, the organisation claims that coaches and staff tried to encourage Diable’s participation “until the very end.”
BFX hopes that this punishment will “serve as an opportunity for Diable to reflect and grow further as a professional player,” as the organisation states it wants to guide its players to become better professionals.
Still, with Diable dropped, there are concerns over BFX’s future performances as the team currently sits outside of the playoff places with a 2-6 record.
BFX Clarifies its LCK Midlaner Situation
After surprisingly losing 3-0 to G2 Esports at First Stand, BFX has struggled for form.
Following their exit from the international tournament, the team decided to bench experienced midlaner Lee ‘VicLa’ Dae-kwang.
Yoo ‘Daystar’ Ji-myeong has been playing ever since, but they could swap again according to BFX’s statement.
The organisation used the Diable benching to clarify why the team had made the mid swap in the first place:
“During the course of preparing for matches, differences in perspectives and repeated disagreements arose, which had a meaningful impact on the overall team atmosphere and preparation process.
“The decision to rotate players was not based on any single personal conflict, but rather on differences in how players viewed the game and approached in-game operations.”
The statement then seems to suggest that Diable was a big reason for this change:
“During practice, when Diable and Daystar played together, we observed positive effects across various aspects of in-game coordination and overall team operations.
“However, with Diable now placed on send-down status, the underlying conditions that supported previous roster decisions have changed. Accordingly, the organisation is currently reviewing future roster direction by carefully considering both performance and team synergy.”
