Iconic LPL League of Legends toplaner Chen ‘Bin’ Ze-Bin is returning to BiliBili Gaming (BLG) after a short break from competitive play.
Just under a month ago, Bin stepped away from BLG ahead of LPL Split 3 and claimed: ” I haven’t been in the best state lately.”
Yang ‘Wenbo’ Wen-Bo was initially promoted, but then BLG signed high-profile toplaner Li ‘Flandre’ Xuan-Jun from Anyone’s Legend.
Now the former Worlds winner has returned to the bench after just 10 days, with Bin listed as the starter for tomorrow’s series with LGD Gaming.
Bin’s Rollercoaster Year
It has been a year of extreme highs and lows for Bin, with multiple trophies and multiple crashouts.
Back in January, Bin reportedly walked out in the middle of scrims after a dispute with a BLG staff member.
Wenbo was consequently promoted from the academy as a precaution, though he didn’t end up playing that split.
Just a couple of months later, Bin helped BLG win their first international trophy at First Stand with a dominant 3-0 over G2 Esports in the final.
During the LPL Split 2 Playoffs, which BLG eventually won, Bin was fined $22k by Riot for refusing to high-five fans after a series.
BLG then finished runners-up at MSI and were eliminated early from the Esports World Cup by DPlus Kia, that was the last game Bin played.
Now, BLG sit top of the LPL Split 3 standings with a 9-2 record and that’s without star toplaner Bin. It’s no wonder that Polymarket has them as heavy favourites at 60% to win the LPL again.
Whether Bin will permanently retain his place or share the role with former LoL World Champion Flandre remains to be seen.
