It’s 2025, and battle royale is still very much a thing. Battlefield Studios recognizes this as Battlefield 6 brings back battle royale with a revamped and revitalized look. Let’s go through BF 6 battle royale release details and what to expect from the new and improved BR setup.
Battlefield 6 looks to be a return to form for EA’s marquee first-person shooter. With interest in Black Ops 7 somewhere in the middle, Battlefield 6 has a chance to land the first punch of 2025. We’ve already seen how incredible the online multiplayer experience is, thanks to the Open Beta. Not only this, but Battlefield is also bringing back a campaign.
This leads us to Battlefield 6 and battle royale. It was rumored for a while and confirmed during the epic Battlefield 6 reveal event.
Does Battlefield 6 Have Battle Royale?

To clear up any confusion, yes, Battlefield 6 has a full battle royale mode, and it’s a continuation of the BR experience that first debuted in Battlefield 5.
We still keep seeing questions asked about BR in the lead-up to launch. Let’s make this clear: Battlefield 6 has a free-to-play battle royale mode. It’s a traditional BR mode where the objective is to outlast every other player by any means necessary until you (hopefully) prevail as the victor.
Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Release Date, Explained
It’s not official, but October 28 is widely accepted as Battlefield 6’s battle royale release date.
None of EA, DICE, or Battlefield Studios as a whole has locked in the BR’s release date. We know it’s not arriving with BF 6’s full launch on October 10. However, ModernWarzone has heard from a reliable source that Battlefield 6 Battle Royale will reportedly release on October 28.
This date is very much subject to change, so don’t mark it in your calendar just yet. If the date does change, or EA announces a different launch window, we’ll update you as always!

Does Battlefield 6 Battle Royale’s Circle Instantly Kill You?
EA has confirmed that if Battlefield 6’s battle royale circle/ring touches you, it’s an instant death.
There is no scrambling for Gas Masks, exiting the circle and re-entering for a better vantage point, or abusing glitches to survive outside the circle. If the circle touches you, it’s an instant game over.
Here’s what EA had to say about the innovative mechanic: “We set out to bring the most dangerous ring in gaming to Battle Royale that instantly kills players upon contact. With urgent warnings as the fire approaches, soldiers will be pushed into more intense firefights as the game space continues to shrink. There’s no jumping in and out of it, no using it for cover, no walking through it – if you get caught in it, you are done. We’re excited to see how the ring affects the pace of the game and how it creates spontaneous showdowns.”
This adds a whole new element and dynamic to survival in BR battle royale. You need to be fully aware of your surroundings, the game’s clock, and your positioning at all times, lest you succumb to the ring’s deadly touch.
We hope that’s answered any questions you had about BF 6 BR. If you have any more questions about its battle royale—or the game in general—then feel free to drop a comment below, or head to the Insider Gaming forum and ask around.
