Bandai Namco Reveals Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Roster And Features

During a new gameplay showcase, Bandai Namco revealed some of the roster and four brand-new features in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is the next anticipated installment in the 3D fighting series, also known as Budokai Tenkaichi in the west.

Today’s showcase reveals that Sparking Zero will keep features like Dragon Dash and Impact Action. However, it will also add some big changes. These include a movement boost, a Skill Count that builds to a Revenge Counter or Super Perception, and Vanishing Assaults.

The showcase also confirmed some of the key characters joining the roster, such as Master Roshi and Nappa.

Bandai Namco first announced Dragon Ball Sparking Zero at The Game Awards 2023. Subsequent teasers were very brief and didn’t show much.

Today, Bandai Namco showed off a lot more combat gameplay. Although the devs warn this footage was still “under development”, the visuals do look improved compared to previous titles.

Unfortunately, the devs did not confirm a release window just yet. Fans speculate that the game could release later this year, possibly in Q4. Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will be available on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

Last month, Bandai Namco cancelled five games under development, after changing its development structure. The company said it “recorded a loss on disposal of these titles”.

Meanwhile, Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8 continues to perform well and maintain strong reviews. It reached 2 million copies sold in its first month.

Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama recently passed away at 68. So, fans will surely be pleased to see Toriyama’s incredible legacy continue to entertain in games like Sparking Zero.

  1. Where is Jump Force 2??? It’s been over 5 years who’s making it and where is it?

      1. Rumor is Arc Sys and Bandai had a failing out. My guess is if they’re making another Shonen Jump game it’s for someone else so SEGA and Demon Slayer is a possibility or maybe Konami and Nura Rise Of The Yokai Clan again? I would sadly assume the Jump game was cancelled.

    2. Something weird is going on at Bandai Namco and Square Enix, Sony too I don’t know what. This generation has just been a flop.

      1. Square Enix is taking a lot of L’s FF doesn’t sell and KH4 is still years away maybe 2027 or 2028. Sony potentially has delays by a year on most games and some games could be delayed to PS6.

    4. I agree it’s been too long and too many legends have passed it’s time we see some celebration of their works Cobra, YuGiOh, Dragon Ball, we need to see it. Not to mention it’s been kind of rough with a ton of hiatuses MHA has dragged on for years, Jujutsu Kaisen ending this year, and Black Clover being in the weird place it is for its final arc potentially dragging out for years to come. Not to mention no series has come to replace them. The anime manga industry is looking rough and the gaming industry tied to it looks rougher.

    5. They probably cancelled it but kept this and Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Child because of popularity same with Sand Land they assumed Toryiama’s name would sell it.

  2. No release date? Still a ton of empty slots when is this coming out? With the path they’re taking I would say go all in on the DBS manga so finally bring in Black Frieza, Rage Instinct Vegeta, Granolah, and all those characters. The Super anime extra characters just won’t hit the same.

Ultra Ego Vegeta but yes I think Ultra Instinct was confirmed but nothing else if Instinct is here then Ego should be here as well and if Ego is here Xeno Trunks God mode should be here, same with Xeno Goku, Black Frieza, and for the hell of it give us SSJ3 Adult Gotenks, Vegeta, and Gogeta. Put the menace in here too SSJ4 Gogeta give us Golden Great Ape too, Super Saiyan Bardock, and Chilled. King Cold better be here too.

  3. Are the rumors of Arc System and Bandai true that they aren’t working together anymore? Was Jump Force 2 one of the cancelled games?

  4. They didn’t show the roster! I want to know who’s in the complete base roster and if we’re getting DLC and if so who?! Are we getting my boy Xeno Trunks? They need to have him in the base roster. Where’s the release date? I hope we get the manga and Heroes stuff in the game.

  5. More awful super characters ugh…
    This year is the 56th anniversary of Shonen Jump where is the next big Jump crossover game? Spike Chunsoft made this, Cyber Connect is probably making Hinokami Chronicles 2, so who’s making this? Eighting is making a HunterXHunter game, is it Arc Sys?

    1. I’m surprised the Hunter X Hunter game looks so rough like MVC3 after what Eighting did with DNF but then again ASW probably carried the majority of that game. Would have preferred an arena fighter from Eighting though. Maybe Konami gets them to bring Bloody Roar back with the Tekken success and upcoming VF.

    1. Yeah in some scenes it looks off the characters compared to the environment and then effects are Cel shades such as dust clouds and water splashes. I don’t like the HUD I wish they used the old Tenkaichi 2 HUD since that was the best game, 3 had the best roster but 2 was the GOAT.

  8. Can you guys do some digging and find out if a Shonen Jump crossover game for the anniversary is being made if so why is it taking so long and if not why? Also is Arc System Works making it? If not what are they making?

  11. What will the story mode be like? What are they adapting original Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, Super Movies, but will the manga and Heroes be canon? Is GT going to be in this or just the Heroes version? Same for Z movie characters.

  12. Please add the OG Broly I hate the Super Broly it’s so stupid! Super in general is awful and makes no sense but Broly being a rando who beats God mode makes no sense and somehow he’s this powerful but Beerus and Whis couldn’t sense him? I wish this was more like Raging Blast and Budokai 2 where they gave us things like SSJ3 Vegeta and Broly, Hatchiyak, Gokule, and Tiencha. I want a SSJ4 Trunks I think SSJ4 Gohan exists already. Also before Super they used to mention the original Super Saiyan who destroyed the original planet Vegeta they need to have that Golden Great Ape in this finally! I want Bardock SSJ, Chilled, Tarble, Hatchiyak, Arale, Majuub, SSJ3 Trunks with the sword, GT Goku, all the GT characters, all the movie characters, all the filler characters from Z, Launch, I want it all in this.
