Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has confirmed that players won’t have the Hidden Blade as a ‘selectable weapon’ like the original.
Ubisoft’s highly anticipated remake, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, is all set to release on July 9, 2026. Ahead of the launch, the developers hosted an Ask Me Anything on Reddit, where fans could ask questions about the game. One of these doubts addressed the Hidden Blade.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Hidden Blade Will be for Takedowns
Spotted by TheGamer, Ubisoft addressed Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s Hidden Blade in their latest Reddit AMA. A player asked the developers whether the Hidden Blade would be a ‘selectable weapon’ in the remake, as in the original game, or would it only be used in combos, as in Naoe and her Tanto in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. The developers confirmed that it isn’t, and Dual Blades are the main weapons.
The developers’ response stated that “Dual Blades are the main weapons Edward will use in battle.” Hidden Blades will instead be used as a fatal, contextual (and BLOODY!) takedown,” that can be accessed when the player breaks the enemy’s defense. The developers added that the new use will make the Hidden Blade “a critical part of moment-to-moment combat, which was not the case in the original.”
Players are definitely not happy about this decision, and the comment has received several downvotes. Many have also replied, stating that they are “disappointed,” that “only 1 weapon will get old very fast,” and that the developers should consider changing this decision if possible.
