Could there be a return of L.A. Noire on the horizon? Well, if Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick is to be believed, it’s quite possible fans haven’t seen the last of the open-world detective franchise.
Speaking during an interview at the new iicon event in Las Vegas, and first reported by Game File’s Stephen Totilo, Zelnick was asked by Variety’s Jenny Maas if the company was looking at doing more with the series. Zelnick told Maas, “Yes”, leading to what Totilo called a jaw drop.
Zelnick then said, “You never know. The answer broadly is we’re looking at doing something in the future with all of our intellectual property, but nothing to announce.”
L.A. Noire was released in May 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before being released on PC in November of that year. The game centers around LAPD detective Cole Phelps, who investigates various crimes in Los Angeles, including a major drug distribution ring.
The game received favorable reviews when it launched, and sold over 7.5 million copies as of 2017. It was also re-released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in November 2017. There was even a collection of cases recreated for VR released as L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files just a month later in December.
Should anything become official on the L.A. Noire front, Zelnick says that the announcement would come from Rockstar themselves.
