Slay the Spire 2 had a very successful debut month in Steam Early Access for March 2025.
New data from Alinea Analytics, shared by Rhys Elliott on Twitter, estimates that the game sold 5.3 million copies in March. The game launched on March 5 and to date, has generated $108 million on Steam alone. Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert took the number two spot with nearly 2 million copies sold.
Other games in the top five included Climber Animals Together. That game took the number three spot with a million copies sold. Resident Evil Requiem, which sold 1.2 million copies on PC. The Resident Evil 3 remake from 2020 also moved nearly a million copies last month.
Slay the Spire 2 Is Still in Its Infancy
Mega Crit’s Slay the Spire 2 has not only been a high seller. It was also very well reviewed in its first few days on the platform. An early beta patch introduced changes that would lead to the game receiving thousands of negative reviews. However, those changes have since been walked back. Learn more about why at this link.
The Future of Steam Gaming
Not only is Valve’s Steam platform one of the most popular for PC players, but the company is also getting back into the hardware business. The Steam Machine, an upcoming PC-console hybrid, was slated for release in early 2026.
However, recent changes to RAM and other financial factors have delayed the announcement of a release date.
