According to a new report, the new Microsoft Gaming CEO may be looking for ways to reduce Xbox Game Pass prices.
After the Game Pass price increases, with Ultimate’s price rising by 50% in October 2025, reports about a lower-priced tier seem like very good news. However, we have yet to receive official confirmation of these seemingly cost-effective tiers, as it all appears to be in the planning stage currently.
Xbox Game Pass and Consoles to Become More ‘Enticing’
According to a new report by The Information (via Gamespot), Microsoft is considering introducing lower-priced tiers for Xbox Game Pass. Asha Sharma, the newly appointed CEO, aims to make “future consoles and products like Game Pass more enticing” to a wider audience. To achieve this, Sharma may potentially “offer lower-priced tiers,” although specific methods for reducing the prices have not been disclosed.
A report earlier this year stated that Xbox Cloud Gaming will receive an ad-based tier in 2026, and Microsoft could pull off something similar with a Game Pass tier as well to achieve the price decrease. For Cloud Gaming, players will be able to stream Xbox Games they purchased digitally, but will not have access to Game Pass titles. Additionally, it comes as a separate tier and removes the requirement of having purchased at least one tier of Game Pass to access cloud gaming titles.
In other news, many new additions have been announced for the Xbox Game Pass for March 2026 Wave 2, including Disco Elysium and Resident Evil 7. Instead of a console this is a better idea pricing not the ads. Close down trash studios too like Halo. Asha needs to go and be replaced with a proper exec who knows the industry so when given the money can really work.
