Pokémon Champions is the new face of competitive Pokémon, and it provides a blank slate for building out a new team. As ever, though, Incineroar is prominent, and the best build can be a game-changer.

Incineroar has long been a regular fixture in the VGC scene, regularly appearing as a core member of teams in events across the world. Naturally, its inclusion in Pokémon Champions has immediately led it to become a staple of many teams.

If you’re looking for the best Incineroar build in Pokémon Champions, Insider Gaming has you covered. And, if you’re fed up of Incineroar, we also have some counters.

Incineroar is best utilized as a support in double fights in Pokémon Champions. With high Special Defence and HP to frustrate opponents, it plays the part of key party member.

Intimidate is the best choice of Ability, as it lowers the opposing Pokémon’s Attack when it enters a battle. With regular switching, you can utilize this effect multiple times.

To keep Incineroar available in battle for as long as possible, a Sitrus Berry should be used as the Held Item. When holding this berry, 1/4 of maximum HP is restored when the Pokémon drops to half, or less, of its max. It can only be used once per battle.

In terms of Moveset, Incineroar should predominantly be used to frustrate opponents. Fake Out is perfect for this, resulting in a flinch, though it can only be used on the first turn after being deployed. Parting Shot is the perfect accompanying move. When utilized, Incineroar will lower a target’s Attack and Special Attack, before switching out.

This opens the door for Fake Out to be used again when Incineroar is introduced. Additionally, it also allows for Intimidate to trigger again when Incineroar re-enters the battle.

Rounding out the moveset is Flare Blitz, a powerful move that has a 10% chance to burn opponents, but will deal recoil damage, and Snarl, which lowers a target’s Special Attack.

Finally, the ideal Nature to use is Careful, boosting Incineroar’s Special Defence, and reducing its Special Attack. High Special Defence should be a priority, while Speed isn’t as important.

Best Counters For Incineroar in Pokémon Champions

The best counters for Incineroar in Pokémon Champions are Pokémon that can benefit from Intimidate, rather than be affected by it.

Milotic’s Competitive Ability boosts the Pokémon’s Special Attack stat sharply when its stats are lowered by an opposing Pokémon, meaning it receives a boost when impacted by Incineroar’s Intimidate. Similarly, Kingambit’s Defiant Ability raises its Attack stat when any stat is lowered by an opposing Pokémon.

Dragapult is also extremely effective as a counter to Incineroar for two reasons, the first being its Clear Body ability, which prevents any other Pokémon’s moves or Abilities from lowering its stats. Additionally, Dragapult is part Ghost-type, so Fake Out cannot be used against it.

Another option is to use a White Herb as a held item, which restores all of the holder’s decreased stats once per battle.
