In space, no one can hear you scream, well, unless your rival hears you running down the corridor at them armed to the teeth in Wildgate. The new shooter/space-battle hybrid is Moonshot Games’ baby, so let’s see if it has a price tag or if it’s free to play.
Wildgate is coming to most major platforms in 2025: PS5, Xbox, and PC. It’s a big deal, and could have the potential to leave its competition behind in a cloudy haze of space dust. Publisher Dreamhaven is comprised of former Blizzard members, and this means there’s a ton of experience behind the project.
The open beta now feels like light years behind us. So, we can look ahead to Wildgate’s full release, which brings us to the game’s cost—perhaps there is none? Let me tell you.
Is Wildgate Free to Play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S & PC?

Wildgate is not a free-to-play release, and it’s described as a “premium game.”
We already know Wildgate is getting future content updates for free. So, the title falls into the ‘live-service’ genre. This is likely why the game’s cost is a regular question. Many rival shooters, such as Marvel Rivals, Fortnite, Delta Force, and Warzone, are all free-to-play.
But that isn’t the case for Wildgate. It comes hot out of the gate with a fixed RRP—especially as there is no physical edition planned.
How Much Does Wildgate Cost?
It’s been confirmed that Wildgate costs $29.99 on its available platforms at launch. Do note: “Pricing may vary slightly by region and platform.”
You can find this information via the Wildgate official Release Date FAQ. Under the question asking: “Will Wildgate be a free-to-play or premium game?” there is a clear answer: “Wildgate will be a premium game.“
Skeptics might raise an eyebrow or two at this. It wasn’t that long ago that Concord launched as a premium AAA multiplayer title with a less-than-cheap price tag. I’m not saying this will happen with Wildgate, but fingers crossed, history doesn’t repeat itself.
If you’re looking to buy Wildgate, check out what the team has to say about its post-launch plans: “We’re still jamming on how we want to approach post-launch content for Wildgate; however, we can confirm that we’ll be providing regular free content updates and balance patches. We hope to share more details as we work through them over the coming weeks! And, of course, how we support Wildgate after its release is something that we will likely evolve with our community.”
Wildgate’s coming out, and it won’t be free. I have to ask you: Are you interested in Wildgate? Are you happy to dish out the dollars to test your space legs? Or is Wildgate overestimating its interest in the community? I’m very interested to hear your thoughts through the Insider Gaming forum.
