Just weeks after its full launch in May, Splitgate 2 developer 1047 Games has announced that it is holding layoffs at the studio.
In a post on LinkedIn (thanks to Xbox Era for spotting it), the company’s official account say that they had “parted ways with a small group of valued 1047 Games team members.
“We’re still perfecting the Splitgate 2 gameplay experience in response to community feedback, and we are redirecting resources to build the best game for our players,” they said. “We are sad to see our teammates go, and we are actively working to help them secure new opportunities.”

In addition to the layoffs, it was said that 1047 Games co-founders Ian Proulx and Nick Bagamian have “opted not to take salaries” as they “lock in to deliver the next phase of the project.”
“Thank you to those who’ve built alongside us—we are sad to say goodbye and would not be here without you,” 1047 Games said. “To everyone who’s playing Splitgate 2, we’re continuing to work hard to deliver more things we know you’ll love. We are committed to building this game for the long haul.”
Layoffs at 1047 Games come after a up and down last few weeks for the studio. Splitgate 2 saw the launch of its battle royal mode that saw numbers on Steam jump to over 25,000 concurrent players. However, CEO Proulx got caught up in a bit of controversy when he wore a “Make FPS Great Again” hat on stage at Summer Game Fest. A move that he ultimately made a public apology about.
The studio didn’t make public how many people were let go. Insider Gaming has reached out for clarification on the number of people impacted by the layoffs. Should a response be received, it will be added to this story.
