Unlocking Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World is relatively easy, but only if you know all of the requirements.
It only took four days for the Nintendo Switch 2 to become the fastest-selling Nintendo hardware ever, surpassing 3.5 million units worldwide. It certainly helped having the first Mario Kart title in 11 years, Mario Kart World, as the console’s flagship launch-day game.
The latest series installment received glowing reviews, and it includes several mysteries, such as unlocking Mirror Mode.
How to Unlock Mario Kart World Mirror Mode

As confirmed by Nintendo Japan, here is everything that’s required to unlock Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World.
- Play all 8 Grand Prix at 150cc
- Play all 8 Knockout Tours at 150cc
- Play the “Special Cup” Grand Prix at 150cc
Free Roam
- Complete 10 P-Switch Missions
- Find 10 ? Panels
- Collect 10 Peach Medals
Some players assumed that you would have to earn a gold medal in every Grand Prix and Knockout Tour, along with a three-star rating. This makes the process much easier because getting a three-star rating in Grand Prix requires you to get 60 points by finishing all four races in first place.
And in Knockout Tour, you would have had to have finished first in all four legs of the event. It’s relatively easy to pull off that feat in Grand Prix, but Knockout Tour is much more challenging, because you have less time on a course to get to the front of the pack and stay there.
Completing the Free Roam objectives should be easy enough, as there are over 200 P-Switch missions to complete, and some are simple. Additionally, the Peach Medals and Panels aren’t too difficult to pick out, as they are scattered all over the map.
What is Mirror Mode in Mario Kart World?
Mirror Mode allows you to play tracks backwards and applies to all 32 courses in Mario Kart World.
The game mode was first introduced in Mario Kart 64, and has been included in every series entry since Double Dash!!. In other installments, it was essential to unlock Mirror Mode because you had to play through it to unlock karts, bikes, and characters.
In Mario Kart World, Mirror Mode isn’t required, but it allows you to experience tracks in a new and exciting way.
In other Nintendo news, the Switch 2’s performance is reportedly closer to that of the Xbox Series S than the PS4. PlayStation has responded to the growing competition from the Switch 2, and a new Splatoon spin-off game is on the way.
