Nintendo announced a major update for Splatoon 3 and also revealed the first-ever spinoff game for the franchise, Splatoon Raiders.
Some Nintendo fans expected there to be more Switch 2 announcements during Summer Game Fest 2025. However, the event came and went without any noteworthy reveals, except for the potential release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on Switch 2.
That disappointment hasn’t had any impact on sales, as over 3 million Switch units were sold in 24 hours, a record that has never been achieved before. As it turned out, though, Nintendo had its own plans for making game announcements.
Splatoon 3 Update 10.0 & Splatoon Raiders Explained

Without any lead-up, Nintendo dropped a video going over the future of Splatoon.
This included an announcement trailer for Splatoon Raiders, a Switch 2 exclusive spin-off game. The game puts you in the shoes of a mechanic as you explore the Spirhalite Islands. It appears to be a single-player experience and won’t feature multiplayer. Nintendo did not confirm a release date for the game.
Meanwhile, a free update for Splatoon 3 is coming to Switch and Switch 2 on June 12. Update 10.0 introduces the Splatlands collection, which adds 30 new weapons based on previous weapons. Additionally, the update brings back a stage from the original Splatoon, called Urchin Underpass.
There are also new weapon Freshness caps, so you can earn more badges, and a new stat is coming to the Anarchy Battle Series that tracks your ability with every weapon. Switch 2 players will also notice that the game has improved visuals and performance.
Splatoon 3 is also set to support cross-play between Switch 2 and Switch.
In other gaming news, it’s been seven years since Elder Scrolls 6 was announced, PlayStation is set to allow DualSense controllers to connect to multiple devices at once, and Lies of P: Overture was released earlier than expected.
