If you’re a Remedy fan, FBC: Firebreak might come as a surprise to you. It’s a first-person shooter multiplayer title, which brings crossplay and cross-platform into the equation for the first time. If you are wondering about these accessibility quandaries, let us take control (pun intended).
The developer is best known for Alan Wake, Control, and May Payne. These are all third-person games, making FBC: Firebreak an outlier. Its gameplay approach is also wildly different, choosing to focus on concentrated, FPS multiplayer action over the story-heavy narratives of its predecessors.
Many questions enter once online is involved: Is FBC: Firebreak on Game Pass or PS Plus? Does it have PvP? Or does it have crossplay capabilities?
Does FBC: Firebreak Have Crossplay?

It’s been confirmed that FBC: Firebreak has crossplay, meaning you can team up with players across the game’s different formats: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Firebreak is coming to all major consoles, aside from any Nintendo platform—even the Switch 2. If you’re a PlayStation, Xbox, or PC fan, you can partner up with your friends, even if you’re playing on different consoles.
The confirmation comes from an official Firebreak developer in an FAQ on Steam. When asked: “Will there be cross-play between consoles and PC?” the FAQ answer simply says: “FBC: Firebreak will support cross-play with cross-platform matchmaking.“
You can conceivably have a team of three, with each of you playing from the game’s three different formats.
Is There PVP in FBC: Firebreak?
FBC: Firebreak doesn’t include any form of PvP, and the gameplay loop is solely focused on PvE elements.
At no point during a game of Firebreak is your goal to eliminate human-controlled players. PvE stands for “player versus environment,” and in this case, it’s the Hiss.
Again, let’s go back to the Steam FAQ for a moment. One question asks: “Is there a PVP mode?” to which the unfortunate answer replies: “No, FBC: Firebreak is a cooperative PVE game.“
Remedy could always add a PvP mode later, depending on the game’s success and how much the player base asks for it. So, if you ask hard enough, you might get your wish. For now, be ready to take down increasingly harder waves of AI-controlled opponents and forces.
Are you happy knowing FBC: Firebreak has crossplay? Are you disappointed to hear there is no PvP? It’s understandably a mixed bag of emotions, so vent through our Insider Gaming forum for more reactions and conversations.
