Devil May Cry 5 Hits New Sales Milestone Thanks to Netflix

Devil May Cry’s Netflix adaptation has worked wonders for Capcom, helping their latest title reach an incredible new milestone. Devil May Cry 5 has surpassed 10 million units in sales.

The Devil May Cry adaptation by Netflix, adapted by Adi Shankar, was released earlier this year and has already been greenlit for a second season. The series was an instant success, with long-time and casual fans falling for the intense action scenes and spectacular visuals. It was such a big success that it helped Devil May Cry 5 sell more copies, something similar to what we observed with Cyberpunk 2077 and the Edgerunners anime.

Devil May Cry 5 Surpasses 10 Million Units in Sales

Through a press announcement, Capcom revealed Devil May Cry 5’s new sales milestone, crediting the Netflix adaptation as one of the major driving factors for these sales. Devil May Cry 5 also received strong support thanks to its “exceptional gameplay experience” and the inclusion of new story and action elements through a new playable character introduced on April 3, 2025.

With the new gameplay additions and the Devil May Cry anime adaptation, the developers were able to convert more players thanks to their “Single Content Multiple Usage strategy.” The adaptation was a huge success, garnering over 5.3 million views across eight episodes. During launch week, the series was featured in the fourth spot in the “Shows | English” category and also remained in the top 10 for seven consecutive days in Japan. The Devil May Cry series has sold over 33 million units since the first game in 2001.

In other news, the original Devil May Cry director wants to remake the first game. What are your thoughts on Devil May Cry 5 selling 10 million units thanks to the Netflix anime adaptation? Let us know below and join the official Insider Gaming forums discussion.
