Erika Ishii discusses her opportunity to portray Atsu in Ghost of Yotei and her desire to reprise the role.
Erika Ishii plays a central role in one of the top games of 2025 as she voiced Atsu in GGhost of Yotei. For her performance, she was nominated for Performer in a Leading Role at the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards. Ultimately, she came up short, as Jennifer English would win the award for her portrayal of Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Erika Ishii Would Love to Play Atsu Again in the Future
Speaking with VGC ahead of the BAFTA Games Awards, Erika Ishii probably said that she would love to return to the role if Sucker Punch decided to revisit and add to the story of Ghost of Yotei. She would say that the character will always have a special place in her heart.
That being said, Erika Ishii also said she would like to see the franchise continue to set each game in a different time period, with different characters.
“I always, I really, really love that they do anthology stories. The idea of the title being the remarkable thing and how each person who assumes the mantle grows in that moment in time, in which we play their game, is so compelling to me. I love anthology series, but yes, any opportunity to revisit Atsu’s world again, I would jump at, absolutely.”
