IO Interactive has released the opening cinematic for 007 First Light. While it offers a preview of the video game, it also showcases how gaming has grown and evolved to rival the film industry over the past few decades.
James Bond is one of the most iconic fictional characters in history. Whether he was portrayed by Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Bronson, or Daniel Craig, there are elements to the Bond portrayal and presentation that are must-haves. Among those Bond tropes are the love interest, the theme song, and the opening cinematic for each film. Most James Bond video games that feature original plots have always done their best to keep these elements in play.
007 First Light is an upcoming James Bond video game exploring the origins of MI6’s top spy, but it is also the first on-screen Bond experience of any kind since Daniel Craig’s farewell to the character in No Time to Die in 2021.
Between that and the rise of more cinematic experiences in gaming since the last original story-driven Bond game, James Bond 007: Blood Stone, dropped in 2010, IO Interactive is doing its best to make this experience with 007 one to remember.
