During Sony’s annual business presentation, it has been revealed that the company still expects Bungie’s Marathon to still release during FY25 despite the games issues.
The information can be found on Slide 27 of the Game & Network Services Segment presentation, where the pipeline of games show that Marathon will release during FY25, in additional to FairGames releasing sometime later.

At the time of writing, Bungie or PlayStation are yet to announce any delays to Marathon, despite rumors circulating that the game could be delayed following a rough reveal and plagiarism accusations, of which Bungie has admitted to. The game is still scheduled to release on September 23, 2025 as of June 13th.
Somewhat slightly surprising is the description of Marathon’s Bungie in Slide 28 of the presentation, too, which says that the game has “strong early engagement” and is an “innovative new title”.
Those are two phrases that you wouldn’t have expected to hear after seeing the online discourse during the games Alpha, which painted the game in a fairly negative light.
Granted, these presentations will never admit to the likes of plagiarism and issues to investors and shareholders, but at the very least, it seems like PlayStation and Bungie are committed to releasing Marathon later this year. For should a delay happen, the pipeline does give the developers up to April 1st, 2026, unless Sony decides to delay the game further.
What could suggest a delay is that according to Insider Gaming sources, Marathon’s September release date was chosen to avoid the hotly anticipated GTA 6, and with that now being delayed itself, it does give Marathon a bit of bandwidth to push back the game. But whether or not Sony wants that remains to be seen.
