Winds of War Update Sent Gray Zone Warfare Player Count Sky High

MADFINGER Games has just revealed the impact of the recent Winds of War update. The super-sized overhaul that introduced new weather mechanics, fresh locations, and some killer PvP mechanics effectively caused Gray Zone Warfare’s player count to soar. In a press release, it was revealed that 215,000 players were welcomed to Gray Zone since hte update was released.

Not only that, but the mega patch has proven to be a hit with players worldwide, pulling in a 72% positive review sweep. The viewership figures for Grey Zone Warfare also skyrocketed on Twitch and YouTube with the update.

Every Move Matters

Gray Zone Warfare continues to go from strength to strength, and the success of Winds of War is nothing short of a stellar representation of the constant effort being applied by MADFINGER to make this game a real winner.

When Gray Zone Warfare was released, little over a year ago, it was to a mixed reception, on account of the game having a few teething issues. What now exists is a world away from that first early access iteration, and I can safely (and honestly) say it’s so much more polished and has plenty more meat on the bones.

This was reflected in the recent press release that uncovered the spike in players:

Gray Zone Warfare recently celebrated one year since its Early Access release, and in that time, the game has seen many improvements. With Winds of War, players are returning faster than ever.

Amid all the PvP hype, you may have missed significant additions that enhance the PvE experience. The task flow has been reworked so players can now accept and complete tasks directly in the field, a change that dramatically shifts how the game is played. New code-locked safes provide fresh ways to access loot, weapons can now be repaired using kits, and there are over 60 new locations to explore, just to name a few additions.

Performance and optimization have improved significantly. While there’s still room for growth, the progress is already noticeable. MADFINGER devs are also working closely with the community on quality-of-life improvements like dragging mechanics, PID refinements, smooth zooming, locker sorting, shared kill counts in squads, and much more.

MADFINGER went on a marketing spree of late, pushing out Gray Zone Warfare’s first Twitch Drops campaign, which saw 50,000 players claim exclusive items in-game after watching Twitch streams. During that window, a whopping 5,000 creators joined the fun, further propelling Gray Zone Warfare.
