Rant Gaming Studios, the developer behind Fragmentary Order, has revealed that Aaron Beck, former Call of Duty concept artist, is leading the conceptual work on the all-new shooter. Fragmentary Order is another ideation from the mind of Nikita Buyanov, the face of Escape from Tarkov, the ten-year-old extraction shooter that defined the entire genre.
In a post on social media, it was explained that Beck has worked with Rant Gaming on Fragmentary Order for more than a year and a half. Fans of Beck’s work have already spotted some of his trademark stylisation in Frago’s earliest content.
Rant Gaming Studios is ‘Cooking Hard’ on Frago
Fragmentary Order was only revealed a few weeks ago, but it has already grabbed the extraction market by the shoulders and given it a shake. That’s interesting, because it’s not an extraction title. But, with the clearest of ties to Nikita Buyanov and everything he has created over the years, it’s easy to imagine Escape from Tarkov’s fanbase crossing over into Fragmentary Order.
In a post on social media, Buyanov revealed that Aaron Beck, a former Call of Duty concept artist, has been fleshing out Frago’s style for many months already:
Beck is best known for leading the conceptual creation of assets in games like Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Modern Warfare, and Modern Warfare II. He also contributed to Black Ops III and Warzone’s 2.0 shift in 2022.
Once upon a time, Beck worked with Weta Workshop, a prestigious production studio, and worked on the likes of Avatar, Elysium, and Mad Max.
Even the quickest glance through Beck’s portfolio reveals a passion for mechanical creations, robotics, mechanized suits, and exoskeletons, almost all of which are front and centre in Fragmentary Order.
In a follow-up post, the Fragmentary Order team wrote:
Aaron is our Lead Concept Artist and cooking hard with this one, we are planning to share some in game concepts in nearest future.
Fans were quick to notice that in the CORIE ARG that was used to tease Fragmentary Order, a soldier called Sergeant Beck was mentioned in some of the game’s documents and lore. They’ve theorized that this is a nod to the artist.
