Obsidian Games continues to cook in 2025, with an announcement at the Xbox Games Showcase that Grounded 2 is indeed coming and set to arrive much earlier than players may have anticipated.
The original Grounded, which released into early access in 2020 before a full release two years later, and was a huge success. Unsurprisingly, that means a sequel is on the horizon.
The big surprise, however, is that Grounded 2 will actually arrive earlier than The Outer Worlds 2, and will be available in early access from July 29.
A trailer revealed all of the news, including that, once again, the title will be available on the Xbox Game Pass service. Watch the full trailer below.
Obsidian Games’ Big Year
The release is another feather in the cap of what is a huge year for Obsidian Games, following the release of Avowed and the upcoming arrival of The Outer Worlds 2.
While Grounded 2 is another sequel following the success of the first title, which was later released on PlayStation 5 as part of Microsoft’s move away from exclusive titles, Avowed was an entirely new franchise.
Grounded 2 will not be coming to PlayStation 5 immediately upon release, however, and will only be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and via the Xbox Play Anywhere service.
The title will initially be available as an early access game, much like the original Grounded was at first, with a full launch at some point in the future.
