Do not rub your eyes, you’re reading this right: 007 First Light exists, and has a new trailer. Sony’s June 2025 State of Play event set the stage for some bonkers Bond action. It’s the first time we’ve seen anything new from the game since it was announced in November 2020.
A common trend in the last decade is to announce a new game, but not actually show anything for several years. The Elder Scrolls 6 is a notable example. IO Interactive shocked us all when it announced Project 007 in November 2020. A fully fledged Bond game made by the innovators of the lauded Hitman stealth games? Yes please.
Now, we finally have something meaty to digest—and it has a new name.
First 007 First Light Releasing in 2026
The Sony State of Play event in June 2025 was a seemingly endless list of announcements, trailers, and gameplay footage. We’re pleased to say that Project 007 has joined the action.
We’ve waited a long time for some action, and here it is. We got to see Bond, the characters involved, and more than a helping of James Bond-esque gadgets and goodies.
You can check out the trailer here.
Can IO Interactive deliver a worthy James Bond? Can it topple the likes of Goldeneye, Nightfire, or Everything or Nothing? We’re excited to find out, and if you are, head to the Insider Gaming forum to talk about James Bond and Hitman games!
We hope you like the Project 007 trailer. For more news, be sure to read about everything announced during Sony’s June 6 State of Play event.
