The voice actor for Miles Morales in Insomniac’s Spider-Man video games has provided insight into why the rumored Venom title will not be released.
Following Venom’s appearance in Spider-Man 2 for the PlayStation 5, speculation arose about a Venom-focused project. However, according to Nadji Jeter, the voice actor for Miles Morales, on the Love It Film podcast, the game was canceled after Tony Todd, the voice actor for Venom, passed away in 2024.
“Let me give y’all an exclusive. We were going to have a Venom game. We were going to drop a Venom game and a Venom DLC, but we lost Tony Todd,” he said. “They showed me how everything was going to be. It was gonna be a Venom video game. Y’all played the Venom playthrough? It was just gonna be a Venom video game.”
Conflicting Reports Regarding Marvel’s Venom Title
In response to Jeter’s claims, Jason Schreier of Bloomberg commented on the Reset Era forums that this wasn’t true. In the same form discussion, a verified developer claimed the game was still being discussed at this year’s GDC.
The plans for the game would have made it a half-sequel, in the same way that Spider-Man: Miles Morales bridges the gap between the first Insomniac Spider-Man game and the sequel. While the Venom project appears to have been canceled, Insomniac is full steam ahead with the upcoming Wolverine game.
The upcoming title is slated for release in September and will carry an M rating, allowing for all the violent Logan action. Learn more about the game here.
In September of last year, it was reported that the Venom project would center on Eddie Brock. It was also reported that anti-Venom would be a part of the game, and it would have nothing to do with the Venom revealed in the second Spider-Man title. It was also reportedly slated to come after the Wolverine game.
Insider Gaming will continue to monitor everything regarding the Venom project and report any updates to the story.
