French President Applauds Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

French President Emmanuel Macron has congratulated Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s developers on reaching a significant milestone.

As spotted by PC Gamer, the French President commented on a new post by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s official Instagram account. As translated by Google, Macron congratulated the developers for selling “a million copies” and becoming “one of the best-rated games in history”. He also stated that the developers “radiate boldness and creativity in French”.

Sandfall Interactive is a French Developer, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the studio’s debut game. The turn-based RPG is set in an original world that mixes fantasy and European “Belle Époque” art influences. Players will find a strong French influence throughout the game, whether in the narrative, the world, or design.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 had already received critical acclaim ahead of release, and a couple of days later, it became the highest-rated game of 2025. The players are having a fantastic time with the turn-based RPG gameplay, which features unique real-time mechanics. Players can craft unique builds with gear, stats, skills, and character synergies, and they can also dodge, parry, and counter in real-time.

In other news, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is already receiving a movie adaptation. What are your thoughts on the President of France congratulating Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s developers? Let us know in the comments below, and join the official Insider Gaming forums discussion.
