Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Earns Critical Acclaim
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 reviews are in, and as Shinobi602 spotted, things are looking great for the upcoming title. The game has received a score of at least 9/10 across most publications, with a score of 92 on Metacritic and OpenCritic at the time of writing. This is a commendable achievement considering Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is Sandfall Interactive’s debut game.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is not the first debut game to launch to critical acclaim in 2025. Blue Prince, a mystery strategy and puzzle title by Dogubomb, is also the developer’s first game and has managed to score 92 on Metacritic. However, it has a user score of 7.7.
2025 is shaping up to be a good year for games, with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Monster Hunter Wilds, Kingdom Come Deliverance II, The Talos Principle: Reawakened, Blue Prince, Split Fiction, and more fairing pretty well with the critics. We still have some heavy hitters to come in 2025, with titles like Ghost of Yotei and Grand Theft Auto VI releasing this year. There are serious contenders for Game of the Year in 2025 now.
