Ghost of Yotei Release Date Confirmed for October 2025

Sucker Punch has just announced that Ghost of Yotei is releasing for PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025.

After months of waiting and speculation, we finally have a release date for Ghost of Yotei, and it is indeed releasing in 2025. The release date announcement arrives with a brand-new trailer, along with some more context about Atsu’s past and her journey ahead. Players should note that the pre-orders will not open until May 2.

Ghost of Yotei Pre-Order Bonus and Editions

Players who pre-order Ghost of Yotei will receive a “unique in-game mask, as well as a set of seven PSN avatars featuring concept art of Atsu and each member of the Yotei Six at launch”. The Standard edition has been priced at USD 69.99 / £69.99 / €79.99 / ¥8,980 MSRP and features the base game. The Digital Deluxe edition has been priced at $79.99 / £79.99 / €89.99 / ¥9,980 MSRP and includes the Snake Armour Set, Digital Deluxe Armour Dye and Charm, Horse and Saddle, Traveller’s Maps and a Sword Kit.

Ghost of Yōtei Digital Deluxe Edition

Sucker Punch is also introducing a Collector’s Edition for the Ghost of Yotei, pricing for which will be revealed at a later date. The edition features all bonuses from the Digital Deluxe edition and pre-order items. It also features a replica display edition of Atsu’s Ghost mask, which is built to scale. It measures 6.8 x 5 x 5.9 inches, is made of resin, and comes with its display stand. Aside from the mask, players will receive Atsu’s sash, which features the names of all six members of the Yotei Six and measures 71 inches in length.

Moreover, the Ghost of Yotei Collector’s Edition also features the Tsuba from Atsu’s Katana. It features a Zeni Hajiki Coin Game and Pouch, a mini-game that players will encounter frequently in the upcoming title. Lastly, players also receive a foldable papercraft Ginkgo tree with a wolf at its base, along with a set of four 5 x 7-inch art cards featuring the sash, the wolf, Atsu’s Ghost mask, and the game’s key art.

Ghost of Yōtei Collector's Edition

Atsu’s Hunt for the Yōtei Six

Atsu appears to be on a mission to dismantle a gang of outlaws known as the Yōtei Six. These are the people that killed her family and left her for dead, “pinned to a burning ginkgo tree outside her home”. However, she survived and honed her skills, becoming a warrior. Now she’s out for the heads of the Yōtei Six, which features The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito.

However, how you hunt the Yotei Six in the game is up to you. The developers have evolved the way players explore the open world, and the upcoming title has much more freedom and variety than Ghost of Tsushima. Players will decide which leads to follow and pick which Yotei Six member to take down first. As Atsu, players will track down many targets and claim their bounties; she will also look for Weapon Sensei to learn new skills. Players will also be able to “build a campfire anywhere in the open world for a rest under the stars.”

The new Ghost of Yotei trailer, titled The Onryō’s List, features some new gameplay, where we see Atsu use her new weapons, such as the Dual Katanans, and we see her companion wolf take down enemies. We also get a glimpse of the world that Ghost of Yotei has to offer, with Atsu using different traversal mechanics available to the player.
