Oblivion Remastered Has Me Begging Bethesda For Fallout 3 Remastered

It has been almost twenty years since The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was released, and yesterday’s shadowdrop of Oblivion Remastered proved one thing – gamers are ravenous for nostalgia. In the hours that followed the launch of Oblivion Remastered, the game topped charts and pulled in hundreds of thousands of players, two decades after it captured everyone’s attention the first time around.

Given the instant success of Oblivion Remastered, I’m now petitioning (read: begging) Bethesda Game Studios to apply the same efforts to Fallout 3 Remastered. We sort of maybe kind of know it’s coming, but Oblivion Remastered has me chomping at the bit to get my hands on the game that kickstarted my love for the post-apocalyptic setting now.

Back to DC

Oblivion Remastered is nothing short of a marvel, taking a game that turned heads two decades ago and making it something monumental in 2025. It’s not perfect, but the original title wasn’t either. That’s not bothering the staggering number of people worldwide who are enjoying the game through Game Pass and across various platforms.

I never experienced Oblivion when it surfaced the first time, so Oblivion Remastered for me is like getting an entirely new Elder Scrolls game in 2025. It’ll fill the gap nicely until The Elder Scrolls 6 emerges, at least.

Now that we’ve seen what Bethesda Game Studios and Virtuos are capable of with Oblivion Remastered, I’m hoping and praying that Fallout 3 Remastered faces a similar upgrade.

It was claimed just days ago that Fallout 3 Remastered exists, but it could be many years until we get our hands on it. In 2023, both Oblivion Remastered and Fallout 3 Remastered were leaked by the FTC during the infamous Microsoft trial, and half of that slate has now been delivered.

I wants my Fallout 3 Remastered, Mr. Howard.

If we use Oblivion Remastered as an example, imagine exploring the enhanced post-apocalyptic DC wasteland in Fallout 3, digging through a world many of us haven’t experienced since the game dropped in 2008. If Bethesda Game Studios shadowdropped Fallout 3 Remastered with all the DLC included, I firmly believe millions of people would invest time and money into it.

When you talk about plugging a gap, acknowledge that we’re staring down a gargantuan wait until Fallout 5 arrives – potentially another five years or more at least.

Hear me, Todd – make it happen.
